Now that Xiaomi is done with its Xiaomi 17 series for global markets, the company seems to have shifted its focus to the successors, presumably the Xiaomi 18. The series may include four models: the Xiaomi 18, Xiaomi 18 Pro, Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, and the top-end Xiaomi 18 Ultra. A new leak originating from China brings us some key details about the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. It seems the company is sticking with Apple’s naming style.

Xiaomi 18 Pro Max display details

Prolific leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo has revealed some key details of an upcoming flagship phone, believed to be the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. The handset will succeed the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, which turned heads with its unique yet functional secondary display on the rear. The leak claims the handset will sport a 6.9-inch flat LIPO OED display, which is similar to the predecessor.

The display will apparently boast extremely narrow symmetrical bezels. In fact, they’ll reportedly be narrower than the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. He also adds that the display will go down to 1-nit brightness in ultra-low light and will support the BT.2020 color space. This means the colors should look significantly more vibrant.

The phone may feature Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6

The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is also likely to feature Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip. This will be made using a 2nm process. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 18 Ultra may get a more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. We’ve started coming across more details about the Xiaomi 18 lineup. All models in the lineup could get a 200MP camera. This will allow the company to better compete with rivals like Vivo and OPPO locally.

A recent leak claimed that the Xiaomi 18 Pro will come with a major camera upgrade. It may feature dual 200MP cameras. On the other hand, the Xiaomi 18 Ultra may bring back quad cameras, which the company ditched on the predecessor. As a refresher, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra (review) features only triple cameras on the back.

As for the launch, the regular Xiaomi 18 and Pro models may debut in September this year. Meanwhile, the Ultra variant will go official in December, as per the most recent rumors.
