MacBook Neo: The Alleged Name of Apple's Rumored Low-Cost Laptop

Apple has finally released the iPhone 17e, iPad Air refresh, and new M5 chip-powered MacBook models. However, that won’t be all, as Apple is expected to unveil its much-hyped affordable MacBook as soon as March 4th, i.e., tomorrow. This will feature an iPhone chip, sitting below the MacBook Air. While we wait for the announcement, a new leak suggests that MacBook Neo could be the name of Apple’s affordable laptop.

New leak points to ‘MacBook Neo’ branding for Apple’s affordable laptop

MacRumors reports that a regulatory document for an unannounced “MacBook Neo” (Model A3404) has appeared on Apple’s website. There are no further details or images of the product yet. Also, the document doesn’t seem to be online anymore. But since we’re just a day away from the official unveiling, we don’t have to wait much longer. 

That said, the MacBook Neo branding seems fitting for the low-cost segment it will look to target. It also communicates that the first MacBook powered by an iPhone chip will be less powerful than the MacBook Air. Apple previously used the “MacBook” branding, but the MacBook Neo name makes it sound like something new altogether.

A19 Pro chip and a 12.9-inch display

The low-cost MacBook may feature an iPhone chip, possibly the A19 Pro, instead of an M-series chip. It may get a 12.9-inch display, but the resolution and panel details are not available yet. Reports claim the laptop will be available in fun colors, like yellow, green, blue, and pink. With these shades, the MacBook Neo, if that’s what it will be called, will reportedly target students and enterprise users.

The low-cost MacBook will sit slightly below the MacBook Air in the lineup. The starting price of it could be between $599 and $799. We’ll know more details tomorrow when it gets official.
