You Can Now Use Your Galaxy Phone for Token Transit Tickets Across the US

Samsung Wallet App

Many commuters know how hard it is to keep track of multiple apps or physical tickets every day. Samsung wants to get rid of that problem by teaming up with Token Transit to integrate support for 180+ transit ticket agencies directly within its Wallet app. The move allows users across the United States to purchase, store, and use their fares with a few taps on their Galaxy devices.

Samsung Wallet adds support for 180+ new transit agencies via Token Transit

The update brings coverage for 180 transit agencies nationwide. Whether you are navigating the streets of Detroit or taking a bus in New Orleans, the goal is to centralize your travel essentials. Users can find participating agencies by navigating to the “Transit Card” section within the app’s “All” tab. The setup process is straightforward: you can search for a specific local agency, purchase a pass using saved payment info from Samsung Pass, and add the ticket to “Quick Access.”

How It works

When it’s time to board, users simply swipe up from the bottom of their home screen to pull up their pass. After a quick fingerprint or PIN authentication, the app displays either a QR code for a validator or an animated GIF to show the driver.

This hands-free approach—or at least “app-switching-free” approach—ensures that riders aren’t fumbling with paper receipts or waiting for secondary apps to load at the turnstile. The ticket remains valid for as long as the specific pass is active, making the transition from the sidewalk to the seat much smoother.

A bonus for early adopters

To celebrate the launch, Samsung and Token Transit are offering a “Buy One, Get One Free” promotion for a limited time. While supplies last, riders using specific agencies—such as the New Orleans RTA, Detroit’s DDOT, and the Jacksonville Transportation Authority—can receive a second single-ride ticket or day pass for free when they make a purchase within the wallet. This offer is currently slated to run through the end of 2026.
