Infinix Announces its Android 16 Update with Smarter AI to Your Phone

Android 16 was released last year, and we’ve already seen a number of phones that have received the update. Infinix was not part of the initial wave, but the good news is that customers won’t have to wait much longer, as the company has announced its latest update in the form of XOS 16 for its phones, like the Infinix Hot 60 Pro and Hot 60 Pro+ (Review).

Infinix XOS 16 arrives with a focus on AI

Seeing as how AI is still very much talked about these days, it’s not surprising to see Infinix place a heavy emphasis on AI in its XOS 16 update. This includes a list of productivity features built around the company’s Folax assistant, which will be able to save screen content and generate summaries or drafts.

Then, there’s also FlashMemo, which turns notes into calendar events, phone calls, or navigation routes. There’s also an AI Writing feature that helps users polish up captions and messages before they send them. Infinix is also using an AI theme generator that creates custom wallpapers and themes from text or image prompts.

AI is also coming to phone calls, where the AI Call Assistant feature gives users real-time call translation, automatic answering, and call summaries. There’s even something for students. This includes AI Translate, AI Scan to Document, AI Writing, and AI Problem Solving. Last but not least, there’s support for Google’s Circle to Search feature that we’ve seen on other Android devices.

Other upgrades and availability

Gamers are getting some love too from this update. Infinix added frame interpolation for smoother visuals, a Magic Voice Changer for game lobbies, and voice commands for in-game actions.

There are also enhanced battery features, such as Bypass Charging, which sends power directly from the charger during heavy use to reduce heat buildup. Video Battery Saver mode can also cut down on power drains during streaming sessions.

The update ditches some of the visual clutter from earlier versions. Infinix is calling the new design language “Glow Space,” which brings frosted-glass transparency effects across menus and controls. There are also 3D spatial wallpapers that create depth between your icons and background, plus smoother animations throughout the interface.

As for availability, XOS 16 will come preinstalled on upcoming Infinix smartphones. The company is also planning a phased rollout for existing devices. However, it is unclear which models are eligible for the update, but we expect more details will be shared later.
