HONOR 500 Series Launches: Massive 8,000mAh Battery & Elite Power

Do you care more about having a phone sporting the latest and most cutting-edge features? Or one that guarantees it’ll get you through the day and then some? If you’re looking for the latter, then the HONOR 500 launch might be of interest to you.

It was earlier this month that HONOR confirmed the launch date of its HONOR 500 smartphone lineup, and sure enough, it’s here.

Unlike most flagship phones out there still packing 4,000 to 5,000mAh batteries, the HONOR 500 and 500 Pro pack a massive 8,000mAh battery. The phones support 80W SuperCharge fast charging. At these speeds, it shouldn’t take too long before you can juice it back up to full again.

As for how long it will last you, that remains to be seen. We all use our phones differently. If you’re someone that watches videos and plays games all day, it will last a lot shorter compared to someone who primarily uses their phone for emails and messages. However, 8,000mAh is a pretty big battery, and ultimately, it should last you quite a bit.

Both phones also come with a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the HONOR 500 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, while the HONOR 500 Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite. You can buy them with 12-16GB of LPDDR5 RAM along with up to 1TB.

As for its cameras, we’re looking at a 50MP front-facing shooter. On the back, both devices share a 200MP main 1/4.-inch sensor with a f/1.9 aperture and OIS and a 12MP ultrawide. The HONOR 500 Pro boasts an additional 50MP telephoto camera.

Pricing and availability

As it stands, the HONOR 500 is only available in China. The base model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage will retail for 2,699 yuan, which is roughly $380. The base HONOR 500 Pro with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage will retail for slightly more at 3,599 yuan, which is roughly $506 after conversion. It is expected to go on sale on November 27.

Currently, there is no word on whether HONOR plans to launch the phone in global markets. However, the company has brought its phones to other regions following a China launch, so we’ll have to wait and see.
