Huawei Launches the Mate XTs, Its Second Tri-Fold Phone

The world of foldable phones just got a little more interesting. While many companies are still trying to perfect the standard dual-fold design, Huawei is already on to its second-generation tri-fold device. Meet the new Huawei Mate XTs, a foldable phone that’s less of a phone and more of a mobile shape-shifter.
Like the original Huawei Mate XT, this device represents an advancement in foldable form factors with the ability of its display to be folded twice. The Mate XTs features an updated chipset and camera system, building upon the foundation of its predecessor.
The New Huawei Mate XTs: A Closer Look at the Tri-Fold Flagship
The central component of the Mate XTs is its expansive display and folding mechanism. When fully unfolded, the device offers a 10.2-inch LTPO OLED screen with a 3K resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. This panel features a 16:11 aspect ratio, which supports the side-by-side use of up to three applications. The display is capable of reaching a peak brightness of 1,800 nits and retains stylus support.

You can fold the device once to get a 7.9-inch screen size for dual-screen use, or fold it a second time to a more compact 6.4-inch size. Its thickness is impressive, measuring 3.8mm when unfolded and 12.8mm when folded. Overall, it has a total weight of 298 grams.
For internal components, the Mate XTs is powered by the new Kirin 9020 chipset. This SoC represents an upgrade from the Kirin 9010. Huawei states that the new hardware delivers a 36% increase in performance. The device is equipped with 16GB of RAM and storage options up to 1TB. Its camera system includes a 50-megapixel main sensor with a variable aperture (f/1.4 – f/4.0), an updated 40-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 12-megapixel periscope lens (5.5x optical zoom). A 5,600mAh silicon anode battery with support for 66W wired and 50W wireless charging keeps the lights on.
The Mate XTs is positioned as a high-end device, with a focus on its unique design and robust specifications. The phone supports a Huawei pencil stylus, which allows for note-taking and gesture controls. Additionally, you can pair a Bluetooth keyboard to provide a desktop-like experience.
