How To Watch Today's PlayStation State Of Play Event

Sony’s latest PlayStation State Of Play event is happening later this afternoon, and it’s going to be a big one, so you’ll want to watch it if you want to see some new footage for Final Fantasy XVI, which is sure to be one of the best PS5 games this year. If you’re unfamiliar with the PlayStation State Of Play, it’s a livestream event that Sony typically holds every few months.

Sometimes the events are focused on a single game, like today. But other times, the events are reserved for numerous new game reveals. Sony says that today’s event will include lots of new gameplay footage for the upcoming Final Fantasy XVI that launches this Summer. The nice thing with today’s event too, is that you know exactly what you’re getting. If you’re not interested in Final Fantasy XVI or you want to go into it blind, then you can skip the livestream.

Something you generally don’t want to do when you don’t know what the streams are about as you might miss something you’re interested in.

The stream will last for about half an hour. Sony says there will be “25 minutes of gameplay footage, Eikons and more.” Basically you’ll get a good look at new scenes from the game and more footage of combat and other game elements.

How to watch the April 13 PlayStation State of Play event

 

Sony will be holding the livestream on its two usual channels. YouTube and Twitch. So you can tune into the Twitch channel here or watch the event through YouTube from the video above.

The livestream begins at 2pm PT and will last until about 2:30pm PT. It won’t be a long event, but then again the State Of Play streams never really are. It’s also possible to watch the stream directly on your PlayStation console if you have the YouTube app installed. If you prefer to watch the streams that way.

What to expect during the livestream

As mention today’s stream is entirely about Final Fantasy XVI. So there’s nothing left to the imagination about what you’ll see if you watch the event. That being said, we don’t know exactly what the footage will show. It shouldn’t be major plot points, at least not many of them or the most important ones. However, if you do consider any footage at all spoiler territory, then we’d recommend avoiding the stream.

All-in-all it should be an exciting stream to watch for Final Fantasy fans. Especially if you’ve been waiting on this title eagerly since its first reveal.
